The Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) conducted a Basic Geographic Information System (GIS) and Road and Bridge Information System (RBIS) Workshop on June 29 to July 3, 2026, at Tamaraw Hall, Provincial Capitol, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.
The five-day workshop was conducted in partnership with Geographic Innovations for Development Solutions, Inc. (GRIDS) and the Mindoro Biodiversity Corridor (MBC). Resource speakers facilitated hands-on training sessions designed to enhance participants’ practical knowledge and skills in geographic mapping, spatial analysis, data management, and visualization using GIS and RBIS tools.
The activity aimed to strengthen the capacity of participating personnel in the generation, management, and utilization of spatial and infrastructure-related data for planning and decision-making. It also supports the Provincial Government’s efforts to promote evidence-based development planning, improve the accuracy and reliability of local data, and facilitate more efficient and coordinated delivery of services across the province and its municipalities.
Through this capacity-building initiative, the PPDO continues to advance the use of geospatial information and technology as essential tools in developing responsive, data-driven, and sustainable local development plans.
