Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro Earns High Marks with 90.2% Energy Audit Approval from Department of Energy

The Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro (PGOM) achieved a commendable 90.2% rating in the energy audit conducted by the Department of Energy (DOE) on January 23, 2024. The DOE audit team visited the province to carry out a random audit across various offices at the Capitol.

At the exit conference held in the Tamaraw Hall of the Capitol, Science Research Specialist II Raziel Angela Lizardo elaborated on the standards of the audit and the ratings garnered by PGOM. She emphasized that the rating falls within the highest bracket, thanks to the implementation of several commendable policies by the local government under the leadership of Governor Humerlito “Bonz” A. Dolor.

Lizardo highlighted that the audit was conducted under the Government Energy Management Program (GEMP), aiming to reduce the monthly energy consumption of 10% of government offices nationwide. This initiative aligns with Republic Act 11285, also known as the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act of 2019.

Senior Science Research Specialist Simon Leonor mentioned their presence in Oriental Mindoro to assess compliance with DOE guidelines regarding electricity savings and PGOM’s fuel consumption.

“We are pleased with the result, but there is still much work to be done to enhance the energy efficiency and conservation efforts of PGOM. On behalf of Gov. Bonz, PGOM expresses heartfelt gratitude to your office,” stated Provincial Administrator Hubbert Christopher “PAMD” Dolor.

The exit conference was attended by Energy Efficiency Conservation (EEC) Focal Persons from various offices, along with the staff of PPDO, who served as the secretariat for the event.
